This is my book haul for April, consisting of the books I bought on my recent trip. Usually, I’d only pick up two or three but this time I stumbled upon some great picks. Here’s what I picked up;
The Sound and The Fury by William Faulkner
I found this classic at an OXFAM secondhand shop in Chester city centre. It’s been on my ‘to-read’ list for a while now so I’m glad I finally own a copy. Can’t wait to get started.
Cost – £2
Here’s my review of The Sound and The Fury.
The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro
Having never read any of Nobel-Prize winning Ishiguro’s previous work, I’m eager to sink my teeth into this book, which took him ten years to write. No pressure then.
Cost – 50p
Dubliners by James Joyce
I knew that this was James Joyce’s first book, published at age twenty-five, but that’s about it. Consisting of fifteen short stories, this should make for an interesting read.
Cost – £2
The Sea, The Sea by Iris Murdoch
Not long back I read Iris Murdoch’s Under the Net. I thoroughly enjoyed it so when I saw another of her books, probably her best-known novel, The Sea, The Sea, in the British Heart Foundation [Charity Shop] I had to buy it.
Cost – £2
The Bat by Jo Nesbø
Known in Norway as Flaggermusmannen, this is the first in Nesbø’s Harry Hole detective series. Recently his 7th novel in the series, Snowman, was released as a film starring Michael Fassbender, propelling Nesbø into the limelight. This seems as good a place as any to start.
My Review of The Bat by Jo Nesbø.
Cost – £2
April Book Haul Total Cost – £8.50
I’d say that this is one of my best book hauls. To get so many well-received books for so little money I cannot help but feel happy about my finds. Plus I get to read two books; The Sound and The Fury as well as The Buried Giant, that have been on my radar for a while.
